I think that's me, on a cover of a local magazine! Now that January is over and I am no longer a Cover Girl this feels like a good time to reminisce the days of fame. Hee hee, just kidding, but it was a lot of fun to see my face looking at me in the newstands and in people's hands around town. The article was about a Dance-a-thon I was helping to plan. The first Dance-a-thon in Asheville! Unfortunately we had to postpone to give us more time to plan for the huge 12 hour event. It's going to be a very exciting event with all different genres and styles of dance from Swing to Tango to Belly dance to Capoiera and West African. I will keep you updated on our standing!
On the wedding front, couples seem to be planning a little bit more in advance this year, which I like very much. The more time they have, the more fun they have practicing with each other, the better they feel about their dancing, the better they look, and that makes everybody happy.
This week I am choreographing my first First Dance to a Michael Jackson song!! A dream come true. The couple chose "The Way You Make Me Feel". It has great lyrics, a fun, playful beat, and plenty of opportunities to throw in all different styles of dance and possibly a solo or two with some MJ moves (on request from the groom). I'm really looking forward to teaching it to them!
I'm always on the lookout for interesting First Dance songs to suggest to couples that need help so if you have any in mind pass them my way!
Happy wedding planning!
